Louise at 2Succeed

In the beginning…

Hello again, I am one of the Directors at 2Succeed; the others being Humaira and Sian. We started 2Succeed as we had all been teaching in the UK for many years, when all of a sudden, the Covid pandemic arrived and lots of things changed across the world. Suddenly, we were teaching all our lessons at home and having to learn all sorts of new ways to engage students remotely.

When Humaira, originally from Pakistan, asked me if I would be interested in starting a global online education business, I had no hesitation in saying ‘yes.’ We chose to focus, initially, on Pakistan and I am really enjoying learning about Pakistan and its culture and am very excited about working with students from this amazing country.

About Louise

I grew up in Llanelli, a small town in Wales in the UK. Perhaps in one of our lessons, I can teach you how to pronounce Llanelli and some other tricky Welsh place names. For example: ‘Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch!’ This is a Welsh name for a town in Wales – pictured below: it is the longest place name in the UK.

Prior to becoming a teacher, I was an officer in the Royal Air Force (RAF) which was a tremendous experience in so many ways. Not only did I learn some lifelong skills which have proved invaluable to me in my working life but also, I had the opportunity to do some really fun stuff.

Being a teacher

After leaving the RAF, I became a teacher and have had the honour and privilege of teaching a very large number of students over the past twenty five years. Being a teacher is such an amazing job and I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have been able to work with so many fantastic students and to help them move forward in their educational journey. During my time as a teacher, I have delivered lessons in Business, Economics and Public Services. One of my main goals, as a teacher, is to deliver interesting and engaging lessons that students enjoy and that enables them to gain the results they need to progress in their chosen path; be that in education or in a job.

What’s the purpose of the blog?

One of my main interests is travel, both internationally and in the UK. In the monthly blog, I plan to take you to different places of the UK, so you get more of an idea of what it is like. Whilst we will spend time in London, as I know many of you may want to find out more about this exciting and famous city, I will also take you to towns and villages, you may not have heard of, but that have an interesting history, or story, to tell.

London 2Succeed

My first blog, for January 2022, takes you to
Scotland, a country renowned for its New Year celebrations and traditions.
There is some great scenery to look at and hopefully you will learn something
new about life in the UK.

I am looking
forward to telling you about:

  • Life in the UK
  • British history and the UK government
  • British culture
  • Places of interest in the UK (if you are moving here or want to come on holiday)
  • Quirky English words and phrases, for example…

‘The ball’s in your court.’

This has nothing to do with tennis! It means that I have done as much as I can, for example on a project and now responsibility to progress and move the project on, lies with the other person i.e. you could say to them:
the ball is in your court.

It would be great to hear from you and to find out what you would like to learn, what you would like us to include in our lessons and what we could do to make our lessons even better. You may want to message just to say ‘hello’ and tell us about what you hope to do in the future.
